Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet Potatoes Scrubbed and dried
Toppings
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Optional
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Optional
  • 1 cup Chives Chopped, optional
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Shredded, optional

Method
 

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Pierce each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  3. Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
Bake the Potatoes
  1. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
Serve
  1. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  2. Cut a slit in the top of each potato and fluff the insides with a fork.
  3. Add desired toppings and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can wrap the potatoes in aluminum foil before baking, but this will result in a softer skin.
