Method
Prepare the Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk and orange blossom water.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Make the Syrup
- While the cake is baking, combine the sugar, orange juice, and orange blossom water in a small saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
Finish the Cake
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Poke holes in the top of the cake with a toothpick and pour the orange syrup over the warm cake.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
