Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons orange blossom water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Orange Syrup
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and orange blossom water.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Make the Syrup
  1. While the cake is baking, combine the sugar, orange juice, and orange blossom water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
Finish the Cake
  1. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Poke holes in the top of the cake with a toothpick and pour the orange syrup over the warm cake.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
