Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds optional

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in the orange zest and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until combined. Fold in the chopped almonds if using.
Shape and Bake
  1. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide on the prepared baking sheet.
