Method
Prepare the Dough
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Shape and Bake
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Decorate
- Melt the orange and yellow candy melts separately in the microwave.
- Dip the cooled cookies halfway into the melted candy melts, alternating colors to create a tiger lily effect.
- If desired, sprinkle with chocolate chips before the candy melts set.
