  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Coloring and Toppings
  • 1 cup orange candy melts
  • 1 cup yellow candy melts
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Shape and Bake
  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Decorate
  1. Melt the orange and yellow candy melts separately in the microwave.
  2. Dip the cooled cookies halfway into the melted candy melts, alternating colors to create a tiger lily effect.
  3. If desired, sprinkle with chocolate chips before the candy melts set.
